UPRIGHT: New beginnings - Spontaneity - Taking a leap of faith

REVERSED - Recklessness - Carelessness - Living in the moment without regard for consequences

As a bit of a movie nut, I love matching each tarot card with a movie or TV character. It makes learning the cards way more fun (and gives me an excuse to rewatch my favourites “for research”).

Who’s the Fool in my tarot deck? Forrest Gump, hands down. He packs his bag, ties his shoes, and just goes, no plan, no clue, just a giant heart and a lot of running. People call him simple, but honestly, that’s his magic! Forrest says yes to life, trips over adventure and somehow always finds himself exactly where he needs to be (even if he has no idea how he got there).

Like The Fool, Forrest reminds us: you don’t need a map, just a little courage and maybe some really comfy sneakers. Life is weird, wild and wonderful—just start walking.

UPRIGHT: The Fool! a wide-eyed wanderer standing at the edge of everything, bag packed, heart full and not a single plan in sight. The sun's at his back, the world's at his feet and he's about to trip headfirst into destiny with a grin. He doesn't worry about where the cliff ends, he trusts that life will catch him. The Fool reminds you that every masterpiece begins with a ridiculous amount of faith and a touch of chaos.

He embodies reckless optimism and pure potential. It's that feeling right before you press start, a mix of excitement, terror and a wild belief that everything will somehow work out. The Fool isn't naive, he's brave enough to say yes before the world gives him a reason to say no.

REVERSED: The Fool tripped over their own enthusiasm and face planted into reality. Maybe he forgot to check the map, or maybe he's ignoring every red flag fluttering in the breeze. In reverse, he is still standing at the edge, but now he's hesitating and unprepared for what's ahead. It's a reminder that blind faith without awareness can turn into mayhem. Pause, breathe and check your shoelaces before you leap.
