Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

UPRIGHT: Betrayal - Deception - Strategy

REVERSED: Honesty - Responsibility - Confessions

For the Seven of Swords, I think of Monster-in-Law and all the sneaky schemes, secret plans, and “I’ll smile while plotting my next move” energy. The Seven of Swords is the card of strategy, hidden motives, and trying to get what you want without showing all your cards.

The film is basically one long battle of wits, with both sides quietly planning their next move while pretending everything is perfectly fine.

This card reminds us that not everything is said out loud, and sometimes the biggest game happening is the one nobody admits they’re playing.

In short: Monster-in-Law is the Seven of Swords because behind every polite smile may be a master plan and a very dramatic internal monologue.

UPRIGHT: This is the card of hidden motives and sideways paths. The Seven of Swords appears when something isn’t fully out in the open, information, feelings, plans, or even self-deception. You may be avoiding confrontation, keeping your cards close, or dealing with energy that feels slippery. Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it deserves a second look.

REVERSED: This is the card of uncomfortable honesty and overdue accountability. The Seven of Swords reversed highlights confessions, guilt, or finally facing the thing you kept dodging. It can feel exposing, but there’s freedom here too. The energy spent hiding can now be used for healing. Truth may sting, but secrecy is heavier.
