King of Swords

King of Swords

UPRIGHT: Wisdom - Judgement - Authority

REVERSED: Lack of Control - Dishonesty - Manipulation

For the King of Swords, I once again turn to Professor Xavier from X-Men. Where the Hierophant version is the teacher, the King of Swords is the leader—the one who sees the bigger picture and makes difficult decisions with wisdom and logic.

Professor X leads with intelligence, strategy, and calm authority. He doesn’t rush into battle swinging first; he thinks, plans, and guides others toward the best path. The King of Swords values truth, fairness, and using knowledge responsibly.

In short: Professor X is the King of Swords—because true power isn’t just knowing the answer… it’s knowing what to do with it.

UPRIGHT: The master strategist of the suit. The King of Swords brings objectivity, discipline, and the courage to make difficult decisions without losing integrity. He reminds you that truth can be compassionate and boundaries can be wise. His strength lies not in control, but in discernment. A sharp mind becomes powerful when guided by a steady heart.

REVERSED: The sword is sharp… maybe a little too sharp. The King of Swords reversed appears when authority turns into control, confidence slips into arrogance, or communication loses its warmth. You may be over-analysing, refusing flexibility, or using facts to avoid feelings. This card reminds you: being right and being wise are not always twins.
