15 The Devil

15 The Devil

UPRIGHT - Temptation - Materialism - Bondage

REVERSED - Release - Liberation - Removing Chains

For The Devil, I picked Andrea Sachs the innocent turned powerhouse from The Devil Wears Prada. She steps into a dazzling world and before she knows it, she’s trading her comfort (and sometimes her soul) for designer shoes, approval and a never ending to-do list. The Devil card is all about temptation, feeling chained to what you think you want and losing sight of your real self in the process.

Andrea’s story is a reminder: sometimes the chains are shiny, but that doesn’t mean they’re worth wearing. The Devil isn’t evil, it’s that sneaky little voice that whispers, “Just this once…” and the wake-up call that helps you break free.

In short, Andrea Sachs is The Devil because sometimes chasing success means losing yourself and true freedom comes from breaking your own chains (preferably while looking fabulous).

UPRIGHT - The Devil doesn’t force chains on anyone, he just points out the ones you’ve agreed to wear. This card is about attachment, temptation, and the seductive comfort of habits that quietly run the show. Whether it’s fear, obsession, control, or that thing you swear you could quit anytime, The Devil shines a spotlight on where power has slipped away. The twist? The chains are loose. Awareness is the first act of rebellion.

REVERSED - The chains fall away, not with a bang, but with awareness. The Devil reversed signals liberation from unhealthy attachments, habits, or beliefs that once held power over you. This is the moment you see the pattern clearly and decide you’re done negotiating with it. Freedom here isn’t dramatic; it’s deliberate. The spell breaks the second you stop feeding it.
