UPRIGHT - Balance - Harmony - Moderation
REVERSED - Imbalance - Indulgence - Recklessness
For Temperance, I think of Mr Miyagi, the ultimate balance guru from The Karate Kid. He teaches that true strength isn’t about swinging for the fences, but about blending patience, practice and a little bit of wax-on, wax-off wisdom. Temperance is about mixing the messy parts of life until you find that perfect, peaceful middle ground and Mr Miyagi is the undisputed sensei of that art.
He shows us that harmony comes from taking it slow, trusting the process and letting life flow (sometimes with a crane kick at the right moment). Mr Miyagi proves that moderation, patience and a little bit of humour can turn any rookie into a master.
In short, Mr Miyagi is Temperance because balance, patience and a good lesson in the art of living are the real black belts.
UPRIGHT - Temperance is the art of balance, pouring just enough of this into that until harmony hums. One foot on land, one in water, she blends opposites with quiet confidence. This card is moderation, healing, and divine timing done right. Nothing is rushed, nothing is wasted. The message? You don’t need to choose extremes. Peace lives in the middle, where patience turns effort into flow.
REVERSED - The recipe’s gone rogue. Temperance reversed signals imbalance, too much of one thing, not enough of another, and a general sense that something’s out of sync. You might be rushing healing, avoiding moderation, or swinging between extremes like it’s cardio. This card gently asks you to slow down and rebalance. Harmony isn’t found in overdoing; it’s found in recalibration.
